Anyone else just love to open up a stocking filled with little goodies and keepsakes? Christmas stockings are one of the most popular holiday traditions among many households and are usually associated with afterthought gifts like candy, gum, or dollar store pens. Instead, there are so many other ways to make stocking stuffers thoughtful and personal. Below are 8 of our favorite DIY items we think would make the perfect stocking stuffer.
It’s almost that time of year to go around the table say what we’re thankful for at Thanksgiving dinner. For some, it’s an easy task. For others, it can be dreadful. Studies actually show practicing gratefulness can have many positive benefits to your life, including getting better sleep, having greater mental clarity, and feeling happier.
So why just limit this practice to once a year? Try implementing gratefulness into your everyday routine with these tips and tricks.
1. Start a gratefulness group chat
Sounds silly, but it works. Start a group chat with your closest friends or family that is dedicated to listing what you are grateful for each day. Once a day, each of you can list one or as many things you are grateful for that day. This will help keep each other accountable and also a fun way to learn more about each other.
2. Keep a gratitude journal
This one is just for you. Write down things you are grateful for as a reminder of the good things in your life. Whether it’s simply a list or a full page of your thoughts, journaling is such a powerful exercise.
Visual reminders are a great way to not only forget about things, but they are also easier to interpret and connect with. Keep a photo of your family on your desk at work or keep a note from a loved one on your bathroom mirror. These little reminders can help us to take a moment during our busy day to reflect on what means most to us.
5. Write a note to someone you appreciate
Take 5 minutes out of your busy schedule to write someone a note of appreciation. Are you grateful that they listened to you when you needed to vent? Or that they helped you move recently? Send a note of thanks to them. A handwritten note goes a long way.
6. Take up volunteering
Find a cause you are passionate about and set aside time to help volunteer. Not only will you learn to appreciate all that you have, but by helping others in need, you will begin to see what really matters in life.
7. Enjoy nature’s beauty
Take a different path than you normally take when walking your dog. Find a new hiking spot. Adventure around the national parks. Whatever your preferred method of getting outdoors looks like, make it a point to really soak it all in. Take the time to notice some of things you wouldn’t normally notice in your busy day to day life. There is so much to explore in this world and it will be sure to make you feel more grounded.
8. Spend time with loved ones
This one might seem like a no-brainer, but often times we forget how much value comes with being surrounded by our loved ones. Surround yourself with people who lift you up and where you can be your authentic self around.

Fall is in the air and is giving us lots of warm & cozy feelings. The crisp air, the changing of colors, the smell of pumpkin spice, and the anticipation of the best holidays of the year are just a few of our favorite things. Because fall is often times short-lived, we’ve put together a list of things we want to do before the season ends.
Apple Picking
There’s nothing more “fall” than driving to an apple orchard to pick some juicy apples. Not sure if it’s the actual picking of the apples, the activities like hay rides, or knowing that you are going to be making some yummy apple treats later on that gets us the most excited, but either way, it’s something we always look forward to. Check out some local apple orchards near you.
Pumpkin Patch
A pumpkin patch is always a great idea, whether you are going with young kids, your friends, or a fun date. Not only can you hunt for the perfect pumpkin to carve later on, but pumpkin patches are also perfect for getting that picture-perfect fall experience. Corn mazes, petting zoo, train rides, and more are some other the other activities that you can experience at some pumpkin patches. Grab your flannels and get the family together for the perfect photo op at a pumpkin patch near you!
Haunted House
Nothing screams Halloween more than going to a haunted house. If you love a good scare, gather some family or friends for a night out at a haunted house. Check for some local attractions near you. If you’re someone who wants to take haunted houses to the next level, check out the Top 10 Scariest Haunted Houses in America.
Host Friendsgiving
Gather up your closest guys and gals to celebrate Friendsgiving! Friendsgiving has become more and more popular in recent years but for those who don’t know, Friendsgiving is a term that blends friends and Thanksgiving. It’s a place where friends can gather to celebrate with great food, games, & more. What’s great about Friendsgiving is that it can be more laid-back and less pressure than a traditional family Thanksgiving. You can even make it a potluck for it to be an equal effort type of event.
Tailgate At A Football Game
What’s fall without some football?! Grill out, play some drinking games or cornhole, and cheer on your favorite team at the next tailgate. Don’t forget to get all decked out in team apparel! If you need some suggestions on what to do at a tailgate, here’s 15 of The Best Tailgating Games For You And Your Family This Season.
Have A Bonfire
Invite your friends over for a bonfire complete with s’mores and ghost stories! Bonfires are one of the best ways to still enjoy the outdoors when the weather gets cooler.
Go Trick-or-Treating
No matter your age, Trick or Treating can be fun for everyone! Whether you are accompanying your kids while they go door-to-door or handing out candy at your house, it’s so much fun to get in costume to celebrate Halloween. If you want to take it a step further and go all out this year, check out How To Throw A Wicked Halloween Party to gather ideas on the best food, lighting, music and more.
Go Fall Shopping
New season = new wardrobe! Out with the shorts and tanks and in with the flannels and sweaters. Don’t get us wrong, we love the summer weather, but there’s nothing like feeling warm and cozy in your new fall clothes when the cooler weather rolls around. A cool new idea to try this fall is customizing your own sweaters, leggings, flannels, and more, especially with holiday events coming up.

Enjoy Nature
Depending on where you live, fall is often times very short-lived. In some places, the orange, red, and yellow trees may only last a couple weeks. That’s why we recommend getting out in nature to fully embrace this season before it ends. Go on a nature walk, have a picnic, jump in a pile of leaves, or attend a fall festival.
