As many of you know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month! With September quickly winding down, it\u2019s time to start getting ready for this month of awareness.\u00a0 NBCAM is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, and cure.\u00a0 This campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer.\u00a0 As anyone who has been affected by breast cancer themselves, or seen a loved one suffer from it knows, any support is appreciated and well received.<\/p>\n

During the month of October there are various ways you can participate in NBCAM.\u00a0 You can gather a group of family members and friends together to form a team for the National Race for the Cure in a city near you, do a 2-day breast cancer walk with your friends (or by yourself), and there is also the Susan G. Komen 3 Day For the Cure.\u00a0 By participating in a charity walk or run you are donating funds to the cause, as well as getting outside and exercising with family and friends!<\/p>\n

You can also participate in \u201cPink Days\u201d! Pink is the chosen color to represent breast cancer, and during Breast Cancer Awareness Month each October people raise money by organizing theme parties, or a \u201cpink day\u201d at work (where employees wear pink clothing or accessories).\u00a0 The money raised is then donated to the organizer\u2019s charity of choice.<\/p>\n

Whether or not you chose to participate in a walk\/run for breast cancer or participate\/host a pink day, just recognizing and respecting the month of October as a month dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, prevention and cure is definitely meaningful way to honor and show support to those battling the disease, as well as remembering those who have lost their lives to breast cancer.<\/p>\n
