It turns out, moms really do <\/em>know everything.<\/p>\n

All of us have been on the listening end of a mom lecture, whether that lecture was delivered from our own mom, or from a \u201cmom-ly\u201d teacher or friend.\u00a0 While we tend to quickly role our eyes in the moment, what mom says really does hold weight in the real world.\u00a0 Here are 6 of our most favorite annoying things that moms say (that really do matter):<\/p>\n

Mom:\u00a0 She who does not speak will not be heard.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Advice that holds true regardless of the audience; whether in front of your boyfriend or in front of a board meeting.\u00a0 Listen up girls; we shouldn\u2019t be afraid to make a statement, or contribute our ideas to the conversation.\u00a0 Do your research, know your talking points, and give yourself enough credit to speak up.<\/p>\n

Mom:\u00a0 Make the decision before you\u2019re in the situation<\/strong><\/p>\n

Having a plan is important, no matter what you\u2019ve got going on. It could be having a budget for going back to school shopping or how you\u2019ll react during debate team. She\u2019s right when she tells you to plan ahead, thinking through something helps you react as it happens.<\/p>\n

Mom:\u00a0 No matter where you go and no matter what you do, there will always be someone better than you.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Humility is endearing.\u00a0 Just look at what happens when you go all Miley Cyrus on things; it\u2019s not that attractive.\u00a0 It\u2019s worth noting that humility requires confidence, not robs you of it.\u00a0 Brag less, believe in yourself, and steal every opportunity to learn from the people around you.<\/p>\n

Mom:\u00a0 If you don\u2019t have anything nice to say, then don\u2019t say anything.<\/strong><\/p>\n

True on the playground, and true in the lecture hall.\u00a0 There\u2019s no value in saying something hurtful to gain some kind of advantage over people.\u00a0 That\u2019s a move owned by bullies, and you\u2019re better than that.\u00a0 Try complimenting before you cast aside, and you might just be surprised by the results.<\/p>\n

Mom:\u00a0 There are plenty of fish in the sea.<\/strong><\/p>\n

True dat.\u00a0 That chump that broke your heart?\u00a0 He\u2019s not worth the time or the energy.\u00a0 Let him know how you feel, and move on.\u00a0 It might not be easy, and it might feel like your chest in caving in at first; but there really are better options out there.\u00a0 Never settle for someone who readily takes advantage of your emotions.<\/p>\n

Mom:\u00a0 A smile is a tremendously powerful thing. \u00a0Use it recklessly.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A smile alleviates tension, casts aside anxiety, and it never goes out of style.\u00a0 Uniquely yours, your smile is your strongest accessory in this world.\u00a0 Use it to break the ice, convey confidence, or to help people feel more comfortable.\u00a0 Smile when you\u2019re feeling down and in the dumps, and when you\u2019re stressed and over-anxious.\u00a0 You might just find that fun things happen when you smile without regard for the consequences.<\/p>\n

Mom:\u00a0 Always wear clean underwear.\u00a0 You never know when you\u2019ll be in an accident. <\/strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n
