CG Group Shots!

Our next CG group order shout-out goes to Sonya Bright, owner of Tantini Tanning Bar in Glassboro, NJ! Tantini has more of a “lounge” atmosphere, mixing Sonya’s love of martinis and sunshine to create a unique tanning salon atmosphere for her clients that is surely “intoxicating”.

For her customized design, Sonya created these adorable white tees and tanks by uploading her own business logos for  the front and  back.  How cool! The staff looks great, thanks for sending those in Sonya!

CG Group Shots!

Kelly Crawford fell in love with the “Badass” bridal party designs that she found on our site, and decided to make a set for her own bridal party as a surprise gift! Kelly’s sister, sister-in-law, and of course maid of honor all received Junior Fit tanks in Berry.  Throughout the night, the ladies received compliments on their matching attire, and more importantly, the bridesmaids loved them! Badass indeed ladies!

CG Group Shots!!

This group photo was sent in to us by Daniel and Whitney! Like most families, the Wood’s try to get their family together at least once a year.  And like most families, it is really hard to find a date that works for everyone during the Christmas season, so they decided to get together in July for about five days.  Their families are spread out from Missouri to Washington D.C., so this is their way of keeping in touch and having a great time together!

Whitney and Daniel created these designs so that they would have  something to remember this year’s family reunion, and have their photo taken in them.  Whitney said, “It will be fun to pull the shirts back out years from now and keep up with the memories!” We agree! This is such a cool idea, and the picture turned out great! Thanks Whitney and Daniel!

CG Group Shots!

This fun group design was sent in to us by our fan Jen. Jen decided to create these tees for her rather large extended family comprised of three different family names! The Laubensteins, the Whitts and the Hennesseys.  For the week of the 4th of July, the whole clan rented a house in Scituate, Ma where they all attended a huge bonfire and fireworks display.  Pyrotechnics, food, family, and beer; Can you get any more American than that??

The designs say, “We don’t get drunk, we get awesome!”. We absolutely loved these, and think they were perfect for a big family party.  And as Jen said, “It was a great way of creating something we can keep forever!” We agree, and hopefully Jen and her crew had an “Awesome” 4th of July weekend!

Back-to-School Survival Tips

It’s that time of year again! August is beginning to wind down, and students everywhere are clinging to their last couple of weeks of freedom before they’re days are consumed with classes, extra-curriculars, and homework.  To make the transition as smooth as possible, you might want to begin your preparations for back to school as soon as possible, if you haven’t begun the process already.  To help you think about what you need to accomplish before school starts, here are a list of things that I always liked to do to prepare myself for the upcoming school year or before each quarter of college!

“Get a Haircut”: In my experience, when you look your best, you feel your best.  Starting off the year with a fresh new haircut always makes a good impression, and it will make you feel ready to start the school year off with a new look!

Sort Your Threads: Take the time now (before you get bogged down with everyday school stressors) to sort through your fall clothes and see what still fits and what doesn’t, as well as deciding if you are going to wear the item of clothing this season.  My rule is, if I haven’t worn a piece of clothing in a year, I’m probably not going to wear it often enough to keep it.  Once you have all of your clothes sorted, you can donate the ones you aren’t keeping to your local Goodwill or Clothes Closet and decide what you’ll need to buy for fall!

Shop Online: There are all kinds of sales and specials online that you won’t find in stores.  If you know your size pretty well shopping online can save you a lot of money!

Start Getting Yourself on a Sleep Schedule: Getting up at 6 am or earlier when you aren’t used to it and jumping right into your school day can be brutal.  Before you are thrust into the harsh reality that is school, start going to bed a little earlier each night, and setting your alarm earlier in the morning.  This way you can start your day a little earlier, and when school starts it won’t be such a shock to your system.

Don’t Forget the “Back to School Supplies”: Even if you aren’t required to buy things like crayons, Elmer’s, and a box of tissues, it’s still a good idea to buy the things you know you’ll need.  I always bought a folder, three-ring binder, and paper for each class I was taking, as well as an agenda, pens and pencils.  That way, at least you’re covered and organized for the first couple of days, and if your teacher or professor requires something specific you can buy it later.

Order Your Books EARLY: If you’re headed off to college (and even in some high schools), you’ll be required to purchase your own textbooks and novels.  As you can imagine, this can get pretty pricey, so here’s what you need to do.  As soon as your college posts the booklists (usually it’s on the bookstore’s homepage) you should look up authors, titles, and editions, to see if you can find them at your local library.  Then see if you can purchase them used at your bookstore or on a search engine.  The key here is to act quickly!

Set Up a Schedule: Time management is a skill that you will need to get through high school, college, and even your career! Get in that habit of setting up a routine and schedule that works for you and your activities.  Map out what your week will look like in a planner, calendar or whatever you need to visualize your schedule, and write down what you’re scheduled to do everyday and see when you’re available.  If you find that you have too much going on and not enough time for school work, you may want to cut back on the activities at first so you can focus on school.

Enjoy Your Last Couple Days of Summer: The final gem of advice I can give you, is to take advantage your last few weeks, or days of summer by going on a picnic, going to an amusement park, the zoo, or just going out and star-gazing! Some things are just meant to be enjoyed in the summer, and if there are a few things you didn’t get to do earlier in the summer, make time to do them now before fall sets in!

CG Group Shots!!

This group shot was sent in by one of our lovely fans named Sara.  Sara created these tees for her mom’s 60th birthday river rafting extravaganza.  The caption reads, “You wouldn’t believe it, but I’m 60!” because her mom looks so young for her age (agreed!).  Sara and the rest of her family presented the tees to her mom on the second day of the trip, on her birthday, and she loved them! In fact, they had such a good time, they are going to make the river rafting trip an annual event! Kudos to Sara for making such an awesome design, and kudos to her mom for river rafting on the big 6-0!!

National Mutt Day!!

Tomorrow is National Mutt Day! If your favorite four-legged friend is without a pedigree (a.k.a your dog is a Half-Breed, or Mixed-Breed) then you know this is a day for them! In many ways, pure-bred breeders, and sometimes the public in general view mutts as “lesser” than pure-breeds.  However, mutt owners know better.  They know how to appreciate diversity and uniqueness in their pet (mutt).

What is a mutt, you may ask? Well technically, a mutt is a mixed-breed dog whose ancestry is unknown, and exhibits characteristics of two or more types of dogs.

Advantages of mutts:

  • Studies that have been done in the area of health show that mixed-breeds on average are both healthier and longer-lived than their purebred cousins.
  • Cross-bred dogs have a number of desirable reproductive traits. Researchers found that cross-bred dogs were superior mothers compared to purebred mothers, producing more milk and giving better care.
  • While purebred dogs exhibit little variability of appearance within their breed, mixed-breed dogs often exhibit unique appearances.

Most Famous Mutts

  1. Benji
  2. Old Yeller
  3. Odie- From the “Garfield” Comic Strips
  4. Pluto- “Disney” Cartoon
  5. Lady & Tramp- “Disney’s ‘Lady and the Tramp’”
  6. Clifford

Mutts deserve their day in the spotlight just as much as pure breeds! So if you own a mutt and you’re reading this, we hope you thoroughly enjoy Mutt’s Day, and that you celebrate the day by relaxing, spending time with your mutt, or even by adding to your family with the adoption of a special little mutt from your local animal shelter!

Happy Hot Dog Day!

Hot Dog!! Today is national Hot Dog Day! If for  some unfortunate reason, you do not know what a hot dog is (let’s hope not), allow me to provide you with a brief history of this ball park delicacy, and perhaps even some fun facts! How does that sound?

Sausages go way back into history, and are even mentioned in Homer’s Odyssey as far back as the 9th century B.C.! Though there is some controversy concerning the origin of the hot dog, it is one of the oldest forms of processed food that is still enjoyed today.  And no one disagrees with that!

The North American hot dog that we enjoy today comes from a widespread common European sausage brought here by butchers of several nationalities.

Flash forward to the year 1893.  In that year sausages seemed to be the standard fare at baseball parks.  In 1901 the phrase “hot dog” was coined by a concessionaire at the New York Polo grounds.  It was a cold day in April, and one of the vendor’s cold foods were not selling well, so he decided to sell “dachshund sausages” that were piping hot.  A nearby sport’s cartoonist was not sure how to spell “dachshund” so he simply wrote “hot dog”! The cartoon was a hit and the name “hot dog” was born!

Hot Dog Facts!

  • Sports cartoonist Tad Dorgan is credited with the coinage of the term “hot dog” in 1901 at the New York Polo Grounds.
  • The first words that Walt Disney’s immortal creation Mickey Mouse ever uttered in a cartoon were “hot dogs” (in “The Karnival Kid, 1929). The cartoons he was featured in were silent ones up until that point.
  • New Yorkers consume more hot dogs than any other city, beating out Chicago and Los Angeles.
  • According to a study in 1999, Americans consumed 7 billion hot dogs or 818 hot dogs every second during the Hot Dog Season.

CG Group Shots!

Lately we’ve been asking our customers who ordered group designs to send us their pictures so that we can show them off a little…okay, maybe more than a little! It’s been absolutely amazing to see how creative and artistic our fans are, and I can’t wait to share their design photos with you! Who knows, maybe some of them will inspire your next group design! Enjoy:)

This group photo was sent to us by Mika.  Mika’s husband and his friends have taken a camping trip together every summer since they graduated from high school.  To commemorate the 10th (or 11th) summer of their camping trip, Mika designed these awesome “Camping Trip 2010” tees, and the guys loved them! What a good wifey! We can’t wait to see the tees she designs for them next year!

If you would like your group to be featured on our blog, simply post your picture to our Facebook page, or send us an email with your photos attached.

Family Reunion Month

July is family reunion month! During July, there are many holidays that are celebrated; some are just for a day, or a week, and others for the entire month.  Family reunion month is a great time to hold your family get-together! The weather is great, which means there are plenty of options in terms of outdoor activities, and ways to keep the kids entertained. You could have a water-balloon toss, play horse shoes, backyard volleyball, and barbecue, have a scavenger hunt, and more! The possibilities are endless, and each family has their own traditions.

Family reunions are great because many families are spread throughout many different states and they may not get to see each other too often.  So during this get together you can all come together and see the family that you have not seen, and get to see how all the children are growing up, as well as catching up with family you get to see a little more frequently.  You can even commemorate this special event by creating custom tee-shirts like these!
