CG Group Shots: Brownies Troop Camporee 2011 Custom T-Shirts!

For kids everywhere, summer is all about fun outdoor activities and camps! Cheerleading, theater, art, softball, volleyball and band are just a few examples of camps and workshops kids attend during the dog days of summer!

One of our own customers sent us photos from her girl scout troop’s “Camporee 2011” and we couldn’t be happier with how they turned out! Corissa customized 12 Youth Short Sleeve Layered Tees in Berry/Pink with “Old Vail Girl Scout Camporee 2011” with bonfire art on the front, and “Brownies Troop #9919” plus all the girl’s names on the back!

For herself and her helpers, Corissa customized three Misses Relaxed Fit Basic Tees in Light Pink with the same text as the girl’s on the front and back.

This Brownie Troop is from Southern Arizona, and their camporee took place at a local girl scout mountain camp.  There were about 200 girls on the mountain that weekend, so the bright, identical shirts made it easy for Corissa and the other supervising adults to keep track of their girls! Corissa said, “[The shirts] were also great for promoting camaraderie among the girls – and they all still love to wear the shirts now!”

If you would like to make your own custom t-shirts for your next camp, check out CustomizedGirl.com‘s selection of camp tees! We have a design center that’s super easy-to-use, and all kinds of art, texts and effects that will make your next personalized shirt one-of-a-kind!

Gay Pride (GLBTQ) Month!

“I call upon all Americans to observe this month by fighting prejudice and discrimination in their own lives everywhere it exists” –President Barack Obama

I order so much from Customized Girl and I love it all. My “homophobia is so gay” tank was a huge hit at the gay pride parade in Chicago! -Melissa S. Chicago, IL

In June 2000, President Bill Clinton deemed the month of June, “Gay and Lesbian Pride Month” to remember a riot in 1969 at the Stonewall Inn in Manhattan that is often considered to be the catalyst for the gay liberation movement in the United States. From that year on June has been known as Gay and Lesbian Pride Month.

At the time of the 1969 riot, American gay and lesbian citizens faced a legal system that was much more anti-homosexual than other countries.  In fact, very few establishments welcomed openly gay people in the 1950’s and 1960’s, and those that did were often bars.  The riots at the Stonewall Inn are frequently cited as the first instance in American history when people in the homosexual community fought back against a government-sponsored system that persecuted sexual minorities.

As a result, June as become a month of acceptance and welcoming of diversity, regardless of sexual orientation.  Gay and lesbian groups celebrate this special time with picnics, pride parades, parties, and memorials for those lost due to HIV and AIDS.  Gay and Lesbian friendly companies also make great contributions to the events that take place this month.  They provide rainbow products, banners, and even sponsor many of the events themselves.

The impact and support that has transpired from these events is nothing short of phenomenal, and has raised awareness for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender community immensely.  If you need any Gay and Lesbian Pride apparel for an upcoming parade or just want to show your support, check out our selection HERE or design your own!

CG Group Shots: Everybody Loves Olive!

These very special group shots were sent to us by Dana, whose daughter Olive was born with a congenital heart defect (CHD) of May 2009 and since then has had two open heart surgeries to repair the defect.  Olive’s family created these designs for a walk to raise money for It’s My Heart (www.itsmyheart.org), to spread awareness for CHDs, and of course to show support for Olive and the other 40,000 babies born each year with CHDs.

Dana also included some enlightening facts about Congenital Heart Defects, that we wanted to share with our readers in spirit of spreading awareness for CHDs.

About 1 out of every 100 babies are born each year with some type of Congenital Heart Defect (40,000/year) (Source: Children’s Heart Foundation). Nearly twice as many children die from Congenital Heart Defects in the United States each year as from all forms of childhood  cancers combined, yet funding for pediatric cancer research is five times higher than funding for CHD (Source: Children’s Heart Foundation). Congenital Heart Defects are the #1 birth defect (Source: March of Dimes). Congenital Heart Defects are the #1 cause of birth defect related deaths. (Source: March of Dimes)

Thank you for sharing your story with us Dana and Olive! We wish you nothing but the best!

CG Group Shots: Tantini Tanning Bar!

Our next CG group order shout-out goes to Sonya Bright, owner of Tantini Tanning Bar in Glassboro, NJ! Tantini has more of a “lounge” atmosphere, mixing Sonya’s love of martinis and sunshine to create a unique tanning salon atmosphere for her clients that is surely “intoxicating”.

For her customized design, Sonya created these adorable white tees and tanks by uploading her own business logos for  the front and  back.  How cool! The staff looks great, thanks for sending those in Sonya!

CG Group Shots: Badass Bridal!

Kelly Crawford fell in love with the “Badass” bridal party designs that she found on our site, and decided to make a set for her own bridal party as a surprise gift! Kelly’s sister, sister-in-law, and of course maid of honor all received Junior Fit tanks in Berry.  Throughout the night, the ladies received compliments on their matching attire, and more importantly, the bridesmaids loved them! Badass indeed ladies!

CG Group Shots: Wood Family Annual Celebration!

This group photo was sent in to us by Daniel and Whitney! Like most families, the Wood’s try to get their family together at least once a year.  And like most families, it is really hard to find a date that works for everyone during the Christmas season, so they decided to get together in July for about five days.  Their families are spread out from Missouri to Washington D.C., so this is their way of keeping in touch and having a great time together!

Whitney and Daniel created these designs so that they would have  something to remember this year’s family reunion, and have their photo taken in them.  Whitney said, “It will be fun to pull the shirts back out years from now and keep up with the memories!” We agree! This is such a cool idea, and the picture turned out great! Thanks Whitney and Daniel!

CG Group Shots: “We Get Awesome”!

This fun group design was sent in to us by our fan Jen. Jen decided to create these tees for her rather large extended family comprised of three different family names! The Laubensteins, the Whitts and the Hennesseys.  For the week of the 4th of July, the whole clan rented a house in Scituate, Ma where they all attended a huge bonfire and fireworks display.  Pyrotechnics, food, family, and beer; Can you get any more American than that??

The designs say, “We don’t get drunk, we get awesome!”. We absolutely loved these, and think they were perfect for a big family party.  And as Jen said, “It was a great way of creating something we can keep forever!” We agree, and hopefully Jen and her crew had an “Awesome” 4th of July weekend!

CG Group Shots: River Rafting Extravaganza!

This group shot was sent in by one of our lovely fans named Sara.  Sara created these tees for her mom’s 60th birthday river rafting extravaganza.  The caption reads, “You wouldn’t believe it, but I’m 60!” because her mom looks so young for her age (agreed!).  Sara and the rest of her family presented the tees to her mom on the second day of the trip, on her birthday, and she loved them! In fact, they had such a good time, they are going to make the river rafting trip an annual event! Kudos to Sara for making such an awesome design, and kudos to her mom for river rafting on the big 6-0!!
